Learning Emergent Style Using an Evolutionary Approach

This paper presents an evolutionary approach to learning emergent style in architectural designs. Emergence is the process of making features explicit which were previously only implicit. Style is considered as a set of common characteristics of a group of designs. A syntax-semantics model to interpret style is proposed and is represented at a genetic level. A genetic engineering technique is used to find the mapping between emergent style and the gene structures which produce that style. Preliminary results are presented.
